P.A.T.C.H. – #1

Hello Young Kings & Queens:
Take this opportunity to enjoy life and please make the most of it.
I came to prison at the age of 17 years old for being a follower and now I’m a 41 year old man.
Make your parents proud of you and be the leader of your own life.
Peace,
DRE

To my young people out there please know all it takes is a few minutes to get caught up in trouble in those streets and it’s hard trying to get out of it. Trust me, I’m living proof of it. They said it took me 32 seconds to commit a crime and now I have 83 years for just being there.
Stay Safe,
TONY

Dear Youth,
My name is Josh and I have been in prison for the past 10 years and I have 11 more years to go. In those 10 years since I have been gone my mother past away due to cancer and my son lost his life in the streets. I will never get to talk or spend time with them again because I wanted to run the streets and be loyal to people ! thought were my friends, but now I am all alone (no family and no friends).

P.A.T.C.H. – #7

Dear Future,
Peace to my young Kings and Queens. I hope that these few words, find you with both an opened mind and heart. This is not a lecture. This is a reminder of your unmeasurable potential!

Each of us are born with special gifts and talents, that if recognized, and claimed by our greater selves, give us the power and ability to impact, inspire, and influence the world. Each of us has been uniquely designed to be One of a Kind. Meaning there has never, nor will there ever be, Another You Created! That, in itself, is Amazing. It is something to be proud of, knowing that you are The Absolute Only You in existence, and that what is inside of you can only be found inside of you. How awesome is that?

I want to encourage each of you to go within yourself, and find the hidden greatness, that has been floating around, like a feather in the wind, inside of you! I challenge you to Not be afraid of failure, to Not be afraid of the unknown, to Not be pulled into the dark alley’s of peer pressure, drug, and violence! Instead, I challenge you to reach higher than you can jump…dare to go farther, than you can see…and where there is a pothole in the road, do not fall in it, but leap over it! Where there is a glass ceiling above you, do not just look up at it, channel your inner rocket, and blast through it! You can do anything, that you put your heart and mind into!

I want each of you to know and understand that you are capable of doing anything that anyone has ever done! But more importantly, you can do the One Thing that no one has ever, nor can ever do…and that is Be You!! You are the Author of your story, the Artist of your painting, the Singer of your song, and the Designer of your own destiny!

You all hold the keys that will unlock the doors to the Future! Be Smart, Be Brave, Be Willing to leave your footprints in the sands of life! I believe in each one of you! I am inspired by every single one of you! Each of you represents a unique P.A.T.C.H., that when sewn together in Unity creates the blanket of love that comforts the World!

Be Bold, Be Wise, Be Strong, Be Persistent, Be Patient, but most importantly, Be Yourself! Your Greatest Self! The future is not in front of you, it is Inside of You!
With Genuine Love,
General Saddium Magnetic

To all the kids at P.A.T.C.H., how are you all doing?
I hope that you all are doing well and making the most out of every opportunity that is before you. My name is Robert L. White. I am currently writing to you from prison in hopes that my writing will give you a different perspective and opportunity to think about the direction you are heading. I would like to plant one seed in your heart today. If I had known what I am about to share with you, maybe I would not be here in prison right now. Know and understand that I care for you in a way that I want and desire nothing but the best for you. Your life is so full of potential and everything today for success is right at your fingertips. Mediate on this, “Everything that you “do” or “do not” does affects everyone around you”. Understand that your actions are that powerful and immediately your actions change and affects the very one’s you say you Love! Example, the very moment I got arrested and told my family, immediately their lives were changed. Because they love me and every day, I do in prison they are doing time with me. I know visually it does not seem that way, but it is true. Yet, no matter what may be going on in your life at this very moment. Know and understand that each day brings forth new opportunities and new possibilities. When we change the way we think our perspective will change. Then over time you will begin to understand that you hold the power to writing the next chapter of your life. Also, the many other chapters as well until your life and story end up the way you want it to. Take a moment to reflect on all that has been said. Look around you and begin to look at all you do have and not at the things you do not have. Always put yourself in the best possible position to succeed in all you do. Always believe in yourself by saying why not me. I pray that something I have written about in this letter has helped you. It is my mission in life to help discourage teens from coming to a place like this. Again, I admire you and support you if you want to change. Thank you for your time and remember I believe in you.
Sincerely Yours,
Robert L. White

Stop the Violence

Written by: David Mamlin

Stop the violence the old man yelled

As the crowd stood in fear looking down

Stop the violence auntie screamed out

With our friend covered up on the ground

Take the time to examine yourself

Look deep inside to your soul

Lay it upon a table to see

Shine it up brightly like gold

Having something good inside

Takes work and time to be planned

Learning with joy mixed with love

You become a grown-up man

Stop the violence – his mother cried

As she helped him – put on his tie

Stop the violence – the young man yelled

As he held – his diploma high

P.A.T.C.H.

Written by: David Mamlin

Prisoners see the soft lights glow

through the fences and razor wire

Against their hearts past memories

before choices took young desire

Teen years gone by old age sets in

better choices we all should make

Criminal thinking ends in pain

Runner rounds third and steels home plate

Habits we make are good or bad

so try and stick with good

go to school each day with positive friends

have fun just like you should
